4-22-2007 till 4-29-2007
Last week was fairly smooth. I started with another appointment with Dr. Babcock on Tuesday 4-24-2007 which was for the purpose of checking my blood and to see how I was doing. This time the hemoglobin was low and I had to have a shot to bring it back in line. Actually one shot on Tuesday and a follow up shot in two weeks. If is interesting at how the body can change so rapidly.
My energy level picked up this week. The doctor told me that the shot to increase the hemoglobin would give me more energy. WOW this was welcomed. With increased energy one must pace themselves or face burnout. With my drive this was what I feared most however it turned out OK.
On Thursday we did the 8th annual radio promotion to raise money for Leukemia by putting Keven Cohen on a crane over 150 feet in the air. We would not let Keven come down until our goal was reached. This started at 3 PM and continued until 6PM. Our goal was $30,000 and we actually raised over $40,000. We have been doing this for 8 years and the first one was at my office where we raised $7,000 the first year. We are grateful to all of you for making that fund raiser so successful. Many children and adults will benefit from the money raised in their fight with Leukemia.
I am set to have my third Chemotherapy treatment on Tuesday 5-1-2007. Dr. Babcock has scheduled a CAT scan for two weeks. The Cat scan will allow the doctor to see exactly what the lung cancer is doing and how much it has shrank. I am excited about this test because I feel the cancer will be considerably reduced. I am hoping the cancer in the lymph glands and other areas will be gone as well. I am still trying to get used to my bald head.
I am still trying to get used to my bald head. There are so many things we take for granted and hair is one of them. Hair keeps your head warm and keeps the sun from burning your head.
Everyone who knows me knows that I try to make a positive situation out of any circumstance so next week I will publish a list of the Top 10 advantages for having cancer. If you have suggestions please send them to me. I think this will be the focus of my motivational speeches I make in the future. This seems to take the pressure off of others as they try to talk about cancer to the person who has the disease.
I want to thank all of you who have emailed me, sent me cards and have called. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated more than you will ever know.
I would like to remind you that if you know someone who is suffering from cancer or any disease and would like me to talk to them email me at jerry@jerryfowler.com and I will give them a call.
When someone has a disease like cancer and they are having a difficult time just a call or card will pick them up. Attitude is 75% of healing and getting better. If we can get them to build their faith which increases their hope and add to that some strong prayers that person will get better.
