Week 52 - Jerry's Greatest Challenge - The X-Ray Looks Great
|
Jerry’s Greatest Challenge Editors Note: This is week number 52 since Jerry was diagnosed with lung cancer. Jerry has reported each week regarding the progress, treatment, feelings, events and thoughts as he goes through this challenge. This trip has been a roller coaster of events. If you have similar challenges why not give Jerry a call or email Jerry. Sometimes just talking to someone going through the same or similar situations will make a difference. From Jerry: It has been 52 weeks since I began writing these updates. WOW, 365 days. Many ups and downs both emotionally and physically. I have said many times in these updates that prayer, belief, positive thinking and focus will totally heal you. I can only report my feelings here but prayer being the most powerful thing on earth I feel is the number one ingredient in healing. However if you read the bible there are many, many references to getting your mind ready to accept the good things that God will deliver to you. I have seen many that were prayed for and not get better. However if one will examine their life they will find that these people did not follow through on their end. We must envelope our minds with a belief that we are going to be healed. I call this a belief of acceptability. Get your mind ready to accept the good things in life. This proof came to me when I met with Dr. Babcock on Wednesday 2-27-2008. This was an historic day. I was at the SC Oncology Associates office at a little before 8AM. They took samples of blood as always and then send me over to the X-Ray department. About 9AM Dr. Babcock came in and did his examination. He told me my lungs sounded very good and all vitals were very good. Then he told me to give him a moment to look at the X-Ray. When he came back in he was smiling bigger than ever and told me the X-Ray looked great. I pushed for more information. What does great mean, I asked Dr. Babcock? He told me that he could not see anything on the X-Ray. However he told me that this is only an X-Ray and we would get an in-depth look on the PET scan later. The PET scan is scheduled for March 26. I am so excited. I think back in amazement for the past year as all the battles were fought. The encouraging times, the disappointments, the pain, the suffering, the fatigue, the sickness from the treatments. Today they all seem like “weeds in the wind”. They are gone but left behind are so many thankful thoughts about the life I have and the health I am blessed with. A great wife, family and friends. God is good and so are you. Many prayers have been said and repeated for me and for these prayers I am so thankful. This battle is close to being over thanks to you God and the many hundreds of prayers going up for my healing. As much as I like writing these articles I feel this column will end very shortly. I ask for your continued prayers for others. There are many sick people going through worst situations than I have been through. They need your help. Please pray for them and encourage them to have an unshakable belief that they too will be healed. The power of belief and positive thinking combined with the prayers of many is a winning combination.
