The following will allow you to follow the progress with date and what has happened for the week.

January 28, 2006

Week One
This week we will be removing all the clutter so we can see what actually needs to be completed and evaluated.  The photos you are looking at now are already after truck loads of boxes, clothes, personal items and furniture have been removed.  Since there is a severe mold and mildew growth we will be fogging the house with a special chemical used to kill all germs, mold and mildrew.  The crawl space and the attic will also be fogged.  The fogging is done to prevent workers from getting sick.

Week Two
This week has been very revealing in many ways.  The mold was the most surprising.  We found the highest level of mold the lab had ever seen.  The level was so high that we decided to leave the carpet in the house while we fogged the house.  This would kill the mold and make it safer for the workers to remove the carpet. Once this is completed and cleaned the Mold company Healthy Indoor Services (HISCO)  will issue a clean guarantee and certification letter. They will be on the show live this weekend from 11 till 12 noon on News Radio 560 WVOC.  Their number is 803-348-0568.

Good news is we found excellent hardwood floors under the carpet.

This week Evans Heating and Air 803-438-1902 started tearing out the old ducts for the heating and air.

Also Bobby Bain with Pest Managment Services installed the french drain to remove the water under the house.

Week Three

This has been a week with surprises and some good news.  The surprises are we found the entire master bathroom floor rotted out.  We thought at first that only the shower pan but it turns out the entire bathroom.

Evans Heating and air are moving foward with the replacement of the Heat and air system.

The Landscaping is competely done.  What a difference this made.  We removed all the carpet and cleaned out all the other junk.

We also had Rocky Top Granite and Marble to donate the counter tops in the kitehen and Greg Martin owner of  Greg Martin Hardwood Sanding to donate the refinishing of the Hardwood floors.

Week Four

This has been the slowest week of all. Waiting on the painters to get here has been the hardest.  They are so far behind on other jobs.  Once the paint is completed we will start refinishing the hardwood floors,  getting the appliances put in, the granite counter tops, carpet on the den floor and new vinyl in the kit.  New doors will be installed by Boozer Lumber and the door hardware will be put on my Randy Ramsey Lock and safe company. The heat and air is being completed and the final termite and bathroom floor is being completed.  We are on our way to our signature house.

Week Five

This week has been the slowest.  We are still waiting for the painters.  They have been backed up for weeks.  We hope to at least get the paint started this next week.  Once the paint is completed we will be in the last few stages of converting this house.

Week Six

This week has been very rewarding.  We found a painter.  Charles Benjamin, owner of Benjamin and Mitchell Painting, Inc will begain work on Monday 3-6-2006.  Charles will be painting the entire inside of the house to include the pine paneling and the cabinets.  Once painting is completed we will be cleared to move forward and hopefully in two weeks will be ready to sell this house.

Week Seven

This week has been exciting.  Charles Benjamin is truly a professional.  He and his son Shawn have taken this house and made it shine.  The complete inside is about 90 percent completed.  There has been a remarkable transformation in the entire presentation of this house.  Can you image what this will look like when the carpet, vinyl, appliances and new light fixtures are added.

Check back Sunday 3-12-2006 for a visual tour show the difference.

 Week Eight

I can certainly understand how homeowners feel after trying to get things done and things happend to delay the progress.  This week the knobs and hinges for the cabinet doors came in but they were incorrect.  We had to reorder them.  This will delay us several days.  The counter tops will be selected this Tuesday.  Rocky Top is working with the Display Center to set the new appliances.  Looks like the floors will be refinished in two weeks.  We are right on schedule with our anticapated completion day right at the 12 weeks.

Week nine

This house is really taking on a personality of it's own.  We are in the final weeks of getting this house ready to sell . Be sure to take the tour by clicking on the link below the picture on the left.  Next week we will see a huge difference.  Be sure to check back.

Week 13

We are almost there.  This week we removed the window air conditioning and replaced the hole with a bookcase.  Other things completed this week were the oven was set and the oven hood.  We are waiting for the countertops which we hope will be installed in week 14.  Most of the new light fixtures have been replaced.  We hope to unveil the complete new house next week.

Project Finalized
May 27, 2006

We are complete minus just a few final touchups.  The State Newspaper will do a feature story on this house on May 21, 2006.  We thank the many merchants that made this project possible.  Their "Givers Gain" attitude has made this project possible and has benefited the Children of the deceased by making it possible to pay the medical bills of their mother.

This house is for sale for $124,888, the appraised value.  The buyer will have $3,000 in closing close paid, $1,000 in legal fees paid, an extended home warranty and much more.  Call Jerry Fowler at 803-798-0555 for full details and disclosures.
