When Jerry Fowler and The Results Team Realtors list a house, each house must be staged properly.  There are many houses that only require a minimum of staging before our team considers the house ready to list.   Some houses require much more than others.  Many of the houses simply require the re-positioning of furniture, drapes, a little paint and some color to add that special look.   This can be done with a very small investment.  Other homes require much more.  If your house is dated, staging your house may require carpet, paint, refinished hardwood floors, new windows, wallpaper and the list goes on and on.  You get the picture.  When our team lists a house we try to get by with the least amount of time and expense.  I have included before and after photos below to show how the simple rearrangement of furniture can and will make a room much more inviting.

Let me give you the history of this home, which is located at 839 Statler Road in Columbia, SC (map).  We were called to visit this home for the purpose of advising and listing the home.  When we arrived we never thought such a mess would greet us.   We were faced with clutter by the thousands of pounds.  When we first arrived there were floor to ceiling books, furniture, clothes, trash and literally dozens of personal items.  There was not a working central Heat and air system.  The only form of cooling was from a window unit placed in the den.  The carpet was matted with dirt and debris, and the curtains were dingy from years of being on the same windows.  The den was a beautiful pine panel but was very dark, dirty and dingy.

One discovery that was a surprise was  the carpet hid hardwood floors.

The kitchen was in shambles with pots and pans, dishes with spoons and forks left behind months ago.   The worst part is the massive amount of mildew and mold, which was literally growing on the walls and cabinet doors.  When we walked in we immediately smelled the mold and my eyes started to burn.  Melba, my broker assistant pointed out mold in every part of the house including  the carpet.   The appliances were very old (1960) and the counter tops had seen there better days.   The refrigerator had mold growing around where the magnets were used to hold pictures and papers.  The light fixtures were very old and dated.

Upon further investigation we discovered a fuel oil tank  from years ago buried in the back yard.  (This must be dealt with if a VA or FHA loan were used).  The paint was peeling on the outside and the landscaping was horrible.  This house was not only in bad condition,  it was dangerous.  What could we do to market this house?  Melba had an idea on the way back to the office to have an extreme home make over and allow visitors to watch as we transformed this ugly duckling into a beautiful "Signature House®".  The idea was born and here we are Saturday 1-28-2006 at 11:45 am introducing you to "Mission Impossible".  Could we do it?  How fast would it take? How much would it cost?  Could we make the house safe again?  There are many questions and all the answers are yes.  Lets show the world that the Results Team can transform this house with the help of many of our Preferred Vendors.

One final very important note.  The Prefered Vendors have donated their time and money to make this project possible.  We would appreciate you calling them and saying thanks for a job well done.  Better yet tell your friends and neighbors that these vendors are good professional merchants that do exceptionally  good work.  By being hand picked and doing exceptional work is the only way they can earn the honor of being one of the Jerry Fowler and The Results Team Preferrd Vendors.
